Tested by a UKAS-accredited laboratory (No. 1262) to BS EN 1793-2:2018 (road traffic noise) and BS EN 16272-2:2023 (railway noise). Full reports available on request.
How it is built
- 200×47mm nominal tongue and groove boards (180mm cover) laid horizontally in 4.8m lengths spanning three posts at 2.4m centres. No rails.
- 150×47mm capping and a 100×47mm counter rail to the top front face.
- 100×47mm cover strip at every post, fixed with Torx-head anti-vandal screws.
- Timber posts, or S355 hot-dip galvanised steel UB posts with a bolted timber fixing plate for taller or exposed barriers.
- Ground-contact timber treated to Use Class 4. 15-year desired service life as standard; 20 or 40 years available.
- FSC® or PEFC certified timber available. Matching pedestrian and vehicle gates.
Where it performs
Highways, housing next to transport corridors, commercial boundaries and railway-side sites. Its published rail rating makes it one of very few timber barriers with railway noise performance on record.
A laboratory DLR rating describes the barrier itself. The reduction at a receiver also depends on height, length and position, which your acoustic consultant models.
Questions we are asked most
Short, straight answers. Ask us anything else on 01264 366211.
What DLR does NoiseBloc Premium TGV achieve?
DLR 26dB for road traffic noise (BS EN 1793-2:2018) and 28dB for railway noise (BS EN 16272-2:2023), tested by a UKAS-accredited laboratory.
How high can Premium TGV be built?
From 1.98m to 7m as standard. Taller barriers use hot-dip galvanised steel UB posts sized by height and wind exposure; other heights are available on request.
Is Premium TGV suitable next to a railway?
Yes. It has a published rail DLR of 28dB to BS EN 16272-2:2023. Installation near the railway must be carried out by contractors with the appropriate rail accreditations.
Can I get CAD details for Premium TGV?
Yes. Standard details NB-TGV-R-SD01 are available in PDF and DXF from the technical downloads page.
Specifying or pricing a barrier?
Send us the acoustic report or drawings. We will come back with a system, heights and post sizes to suit, and an approved installer if you need one.
